Church and World

Posted: December 2, 2011 by deadfliesmike in General

Generally our church members don’t gather every day for worship anymore

Generally we no longer set aside a day for God and our brothers

Generally we haven’t spent our wealth on generosity, or the Gospel.

Generally we don’t know our neighbours.

We can beat people up individually about these things, but the reality is, they are part of wider, social and political decisions.

And so when the church starts focusing purely on ‘individual disciple making’ (which, of necessity, doesn’t address what people actually ‘do’ in their jobs or political life, so long as they are nice and talk about Jesus), we are fighting a losing battle.

When the church stops claiming the world, the world claims the church.
